Dark blackish purple with a touch of rose in the center veins. Would contrast nicely with 'Emerald & Snow'

Fuchsia 'Diva' series
These plants bloom earlier in spring and are tolerant of the high temperatures experienced during a North American summer. Look for 'Diva White' and 'Diva Neon/white'. Grow in shade or partial shade

Impatiens 'Butterfly'
Has a semi trailing habit that quickly fills container. Blooms profusely. Flowers are small and available in five colours. Provide afternoon shade.
Impatiens 'Sonic Magic Pink'
(New Guinea Impatiens)
Plant has pink flowers with unique white striping. Extra large flowers on a compact plant.
Very early flowers measure up to 7.5cm (3") across.
Xanthosoma mafaffa 'Lime Zinger'
(Golden Elephant Ears)
Huge, lime green coloured elephant ears which are held upright. An excellent Compliment to Colacasia 'Black Magic'. Use in containers as an accent.

Perennials

Agapanthus
(African Lily / Lily of the Nile)
var. 'Back in Black'
Best suited to be displayed in containers.
Jet black flower stems contrast with the long strap-like foliage. Blooms are of a deep purple-blue, that open from buds which are also near black. Seed pods which follow the blooms are also black. - Grow in a sunny, frost-free spot on the patio or deck. Must be wintered indoors. Hardy to Canadian Zone 7
Aster dumosus 'Sapphire'
('Sapphire' Michaelmas Daisy)
Compact well branched foliage with neat growing habit. Compact enough to be used in container gardening, but does well in the landscape also. Abundant amethyst blue flowers. Blooms August to October
Height - 25cm to 40cm (10" to 16")
Full sun/partial shade
Astilbe 'Rhythm and Blues'
Plant has dense rosy-red pyramidal flower spikes. Very heat tolerant.
Height - 50cm (20")
Partial to dappled shade. Hardy to Canadian Zone 4
Brunnera Macrophylla
var. 'Looking Glass'
Creates the illusion of glass sparking in a shaded woodland setting. Has an over-all sterling silver patina. As the leaves age, the solid silver coating develops, peaking in early summer. In spring Wedgewood blue forget-me-not type flowers float above the young foliage.
Height - 30cm (12"). Shady location. Hardy to Canadian Zone 4.
Campanula punctata 'Milk Shake'
'Milk Shake' Dotted Bellflower
Variegated foliage with dark green freckles on a yellowish background. Pink bell shaped flowers contrast sharply with the foliage.
Height - 40cm (16") Hardy to Canadian Zone 5
Chrysanthemum morifolium 'Elegante Marjorie'
Vibrant coral flowers with excellent colour retention to the end of the autumn season. Vigorous plant with prolific number of blooms covering the plant. Flower size is approximately 3cm (1.5") across. Natural flowering date is October 8th.
Chrysanthemum morifolium 'Tiffany'
Very early variety. Starts the natural garden mum season. The almost ball-like vigorous growth has prolific flowering. Blooms are white with a tinge of ivory in the center- approximately 7cm (2.75") in diameter. Begins blooming approxmiately September 2nd.
Coreopsis rosea 'Heaven's Gate'
A bushy mounding habit with delicate thread like green leaves.
Blooms are a rich pink with a deeper raspberry eye forming a ring around the yellow button center.
Hardy to Canadian Zone 6 and protected parts of Canadian Zone 5.
Excellent as a long blooming container annual in colder regions.
Height - 45cm (18")
Dianthus 'Shooting Star'
The brightest addition to the hardy varieties of Dianthus. Shiny blue green foliage with a profusion of magenta coloured blooms in early spring -- An eye catching addition to the landscape. Strongly scented of cloves. Has a lightly mounding habit which adds interest even when not in bloom.
Hardy to Canadian Zone 5.
Dicentra 'Candy Hearts'
A robust floriferous plant with silvery green leaves that are finely textured. Deep pink blooms appear mid-April to October.
Height - 30cm (12")
Shade to partial shade. For use at the front of the shade garden.
Echinacea purpurea 'Fancy Frills'
Has an appearance similar to a sunflower with multiple rows of rich shaggy petals. Strong stems and large flowers make this an ideal cutting flower.
Long blooming and fragrant.
Height - 50cm (20")
Plant in full sun
Euphorbia 'Nothowlee'
(Blackbird Spurge)
Compact perennial of globular habit. Young shoots remain a dark purplish red throughout the season. Mature foliage changes to a dark bronze-green. Purple black and yellow flowers appear in early spring complimenting the foliage.
Helleborus orientalis 'Ruse Black'
Large dark purplish black flowers with rounded petals and contrasting yellow stamens.

Paeonia lactifolia 'Do Tell'
(Japanese type Peony)
Blooms are up to 20cm (8") across. The huge flowers are soft shell pink with a mass of frilly ballerina pink mini petals in the center. A consistent perforner.

Papaver oriental 'Miss Piggy'
A unique plant. Blooms are entirely full double pink with ruffled edges. Very strong stems.

Salvia nemerosa 'Sensation Rose'
The lilac pink flowers appear on long spikes. Plant is well branched and dense growing with aromatic foliage.
Sedum spectabile 'African Sunset'
(Stonecrop)
No darker. glossier, shinier, smoother foliage than this! In contrast, plant has fiery red blooms.
Height - 40cm (16")

Verbascum 'Honey Dijon'
Flowers bloom in shades of peach, gold with a plum eye. Plants are compact. Good drainage is imperative. Plant is deer resistant. Requires full sun.
Height - 20cm (8")
Zantedeschia 'Edge of Night'
('Edge of Night' Calla Lily
A unique form with large, elegant purple-black flowers. Leaves are arrow shaped, shiny black edged with green which surrounds the flower.
Hardy to Canadian Zone 8. North of that, grow as a container plant. If planted in the garden, dig the tuber sin the fall before frost and store like Dahlia tubers.

WOODY PLANTS

Berberis thunbergii 'Starburst'
('Starburst' Barberry)
This shrub has a compact habit with variegated foliage. Young shoots are pink with shades of lime green and cream. Mature foliage is dark green and strongly marbled with white.

Clematis 'Sakala' This climber features lavender blue flowers with a pale pink stripe and pale bown anthers. Blooms in May and June and repeat blooms in August and September

Clematis 'Juuli"
A beautiful non-clinging vine, named after the month of July. Blooms from July to September with masses of purplish blue flowers fading to pale blue and a deeper coloured central stripe. Flowers are 10-12cm (4-5") in size.
Ideal Uses

-- underplanted in a flower bed where it can scramble at will

-- In a container where it can tumble over the edge

-- At the top of a wall where it can flow down the wall.

Cornus kousa 'Gold Star'
(Gold Star Dogwood)
A variegated selection. Has a broad gold splash in the center of each leaf.
Showy white bracts on reddish stems appear in early summer. Ornamental red fruit adorns the shrub in fall.

Daphne burkwoodii 'Briggs Moonlight'
Creamy yellow coloured foliage rimmed with narrow margins of dark green. Fragrant pink flowers cover shrub in spring.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Venice Raven'
(Hydrangea City Line)
A new Hydrangea bearing bright fuchsia coloured flowers. Shrub has a tight compact growth with no worry about losing flower buds by pruning at the wrong time. No pruning required!
Plant in full sun to partial shade. Requires moist, well drained soil.

Hydrangea paniculata 'Bulk'
(Quick Fire Hydrangea)
The rich deep pink flowers appear a month earlier than other varieties and turn pink before other cultivars. By fall, the flowers are a very dark pink.
Mature Height - 1.8 to 2.4 m (6 to 8 ') Full sun to partial shade.

Abelia 'Panache'
(Silver Anniversary Abelia)
Has beautiful silver variegated foliage and a compact growing hait. Variegation does not revert, and shows hints of red and pink in its new growth. Has season long colour.
Mature Height - 90cm (3'). Full sun to partial shade
Great for the perennial garden but also for use in containers.
Tamarix ramosissima 'Rubra'
Light, fluffy rosy-pink flowers in early summer. Delicate green foliage. A sun lover. Is tolerant of poor and dry soils.
Cut back to the ground each autumn to increase flower production next season. Bloom time is June to July

Symphoricarpos 'Amethyst'
Produces an abundance of vivid purple-pink berries until late summer. Shrub has neat habit and good branching. The berries are very attractive to birds. Blooms May to June.

Buddleia davidii 'Pink Delight'
(Pink Delight Butterfly Bush)
Perfumed clusters of intense pure pink coloured blooms, on long arched stems, showing against a backdrop ofsilver-green foliage. Blooms in July. Prefers full sun location.
Height - 1.5 to 1.8m (5 to 6')

ROSES

Rosa cv. 'Angelsie'
(Lady Elsie May Shrub Rose)
Upright spreading shrub. Vigorous, uniform growth habit. Excellent disease resistance. Flowers are coral pink and grow in clusters on strong 30-51cm (12-20") cutting stems. Each flower is approximately 9 to 10cm (3.5 to 4") wide and has 12 to 14 petals. Slight fragrance, dark green waxy foliage.
Rosa 'BAleam'
(Day Dream shrub rose)
A low growing compact shrub. Bears massive clusters of fuchsia-pink blooms. Will flower all summer long. Blooms are lightly scented. Each is single, wide and flat resembling a little button. Has glossy deep green foliage which is highly disease resistant.
Rosa 'Canadian Sunset'
(Canadian Sunset Hybrid Tea rose)
Large bi-colour blooms held atop a long cutting stem. Blooms are a beautiful red with a yellow reverse and moderate fragrance. A repeat bloomer, upright, medium habit.
Rosa 'FRYfandango'
(High Flyer climbing rose)
Flowers are large, well formed, rich dark red colour. Prolific bloomer, continuing to bloom throughout the summer. Climbing habit, mild fragrance.

Vibrant pink blooms grow in profusion. This is an excellent choice for mass planting. Has a 75cm (30") bushy spreading habit with light fragrance.

Bears clusters of ruffled clear sunny yellow blooms that stand out against a backdrop of dark green glossy foliage. Very low growing habit. Excellent disease resistance.
