Problem:
The front yard of this property had been dominated by a very
large mature Black Walnut tree. When the tree was removed, the
property had a very stark appearance. The roots of the tree had
not been removed so there was genuine concern that the Juglone
toxins may still be lurking in the area where the tree had been
standing.
Our solution:
An open Arbor, in the same style as the smaller front verandah
was designed to cover the area where the Black Walnut tree had
stood. The base was of flagstone. All plant materials chosen were
known to be Juglone resistant. A flagstone path tied the arbor to
the residence. A gazing globe on a pedestal was the focal point
in the centre of the arbor.
